Retailers currently carrying Von's book!
by vonandmoggy ([info]vonandmoggy)

pleased

current location: Home
current mood: pleased
current song: Big Lebowski on DVD

Okay, so we have representation now from the west coast right to the east coast, at a few Canadian stores and a good number of American ones. To say we're thrilled to death (and a little overwhelmed) would be understating it.

Please look at the list below and, if you're near any of these excellent stores, I'd love it if you would take your business to them. Most of them don't have stock QUITE yet (with the exception of Cosmic Monkey Comics in Portland, Oregon, which has received the book now according to the tracking information)...but if you call, I'm certain your local shop would be happy to put aside a copy of the book when they DO receive stock (which should be within the next two weeks, if not sooner).

And if you don't see your favourite bookstore or comic book store on this list, check back here again soon (or Von's site)...orders are still coming in, after all! AND, even more importantly, if you'd like to order the book through your favourite store (supporting both Von AND your local shop), Von has made up an order form that you can print and show your local store.

http://www.vonallan.com/press/road%20to%20god%20knows%20order%20form.pdf

AND if you don't know where your closest shop is, you can either ask me for a recommendation or look here: http://www.comicshoplocator.com/ .

Anyways, I can't emphasize enough how much we appreciate these retailers taking a shot and buying the book...these are some of the best of the best and we're thrilled to death to have the book on their shelves. Please help us sell copies for them; if you're not local to any of these stores but know people who are...well, sending friends/family in would be truly above and beyond. And please let me know if you repost this so that I can properly worship you publicly, too.

And a BIG THANK YOU to Tony Shenton, Sales Rep extraordinaire, for representing Von's book...as I've told a number of folks, he's good people.

Yeah, I'm just a little proud...is it that obvious?

Moggy

I wasn't going to buy anything other than dry garlic ribs when I went to the mall but there were sales everywhere due to the mall's renovations being finished and... this skirt called to me! What you can't see is the metallic pink, gold, and blue stripes that go through it, too! SUCH a funky little skirt!
I can hardly wait to pair it with my teal or burgundy tights!

...speaking of tights, I totally forgot to pick up hose for my Christmas party outfit again. OH WELL!

Hair is very pixie-ish again! But he did keep the back and sides longer as I'm trying to grow my hair out. The bangs are choppy and short and he texturized the heck out of my hair. LOVE it! Photos when I get enough energy together to move off the futon.

Speedpaint 23 - Komodo Dragon
by Lindsay Cibos ([info]minakokenshou)
at November 14th, 2009 (12:31 pm)

Finding a method for quickly painting reptilian scales proved difficult, so this is yesterday and today's speed paint. I did the background and basic body structure on the Komodo dragon yesterday, and then some retouching and scale texture today. I believe in total it took about an hour and a half. I'm not quite satisfied with the results, but that's not the point of these exercises. It's to expose myself to new challenges.

I think I'm in a rut with the greens and browns. I'll try to work some different colors into the next one.

Finally, got a few items finished and listed up on Etsy. I'm sure I've made errors in the listings, I'm blinded by being at the computer too long or squinting over the sewing machine. I had to uproot Tenchi a few times as his favourite spot is my sewing chair, but look how he watches me and look at what a setting he chose to scrutinize my every move and surely plot my demise as I'm in his seat. He's a very dramatic cat.

Photobucket

Alright, so here's what I've got up so far, clearly my influence is Dia de los Muertos, although in one pictures we've decided I've got some Aztec goddess thrown in for good measure. Photos by Laura Dark, Make Up by Mary Kelly. Clicky below to see!

(If anyone was wondering and bothered looking at the photos... yes, my eyes are blue... they change from grey to hazel to green to bright green and believe it or not blue, I finally caught it on film. I'm a little stupid excited about it because for the longest time, others would see my eyes change blue and I wouldn't believe them.)

Got two more pieces to finish up tonight, expect more spamming/begging in the morning with new stuff. :D

Business as Usual

Getting more orders than I expected to with the whole giftshop downsize. This is GOOD. I will have very little stock left at the end of the year.

Art and Authoring

Got the down payment on a commission (I will still take interesting and well-paying jobs from time to time) and sketched a draft of it and worked further on the Torn World map.

Home and Health

Oh, did it snow! It's all pretty again, but it's always too dark for photos when I leave for work and go home at night. I may have to bring my camera to work.

Planning

I have work coats to pick up, and a bed to go shopping for, need to work out (did not last night, so lazy!), and go shopping for weekend food.

bloody mary on the rocks [userpic]
Odd request but I hope someone can help?
by bloody mary on the rocks ([info]junemermaid)
at November 12th, 2009 (10:15 pm)

Okay so I have an odd request that I'm not sure if anyone will humor me on, but I'm going to ask anyway.

Paul and I want to dress up when we go to the Alice cafe and I said I'd go lolita but I don't want to spend several hundred dollars on an outfit I'll literally wear once. So I was wondering if any of my friends on here that dress lolita would be willing to lend me an outfit for the evening?

I'll pay shipping both ways and have everything dry cleaned before sending it back. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a SUPER clothes horse and keep all my brand clothing immaculate so anything lent out to me would be returned in the same condition. Heck if you have something that needs repairing I can repair it and return it in even better condition!
I know people are really protective of their clothing, so I'll understand if no one wants to help me out, but I'd forever love anyone who would be willing to help me be a dainty lady for an evening :(

Anyone who would be willing to lend me one of their outfits, I'll pick up a thank you gift for you too if you just lemme know what your favorite brand is as I'll be hitting up all the brand stores while I'm there.

So yeah if anyone would be willing to lend me something, be it out of the kindness of your heart or just because you just want to see Christy dressed up like a dainty lady, it's all good lol. Anyone wanna help a sister out?
